Below: Here’s Bruce Brown about to take off in my Challenger C-IRDL for its maiden flight back in May 2005. Bruce has just spent the day checking the plane out for its “Certificate of Conformance”. It flew well. Imagine! I built it at home in my garage with a cordless drill and a rivet gun. Now if I could just figure out where all these extra parts go.

Below: This is the kind of smile a builder has when he comes back from his first flight in his brand new Challenger. That’s Bruce Brown in the back seat. I’m in the front seat with the big cheesey smile on my face. That smile remained for quite some time afterward and it returns whenever I go flying.
